As a fast growing surface transportation engineering company, SIMCO is seeking a highly motivated civil engineer to design and review Highway Engineering related infrastructure projects under the supervision of the Director of Design. This position has great opportunity for future advancement and growth within the company.

The candidate will be responsible for field investigation, conceptual design, preliminary cost estimate, final design, preparation of special specifications and engineer’s estimates for urban and rural roadways, pedestrian bridges and ramp structures, including other elements such as sidewalks, drainage structures, lighting, utilities, sign structures, and landscape development.

The individual should have knowledge of AASHTO (Geometric Design of Highways and Streets), ACI and AISC codes. Since most of the work will be in the New York metropolitan area, familiarity with the specifications, standards, and guidelines of NYCDOT, NYDDC, NYCDEP, NYSDOT, PANYNJ, MTA, and other public agencies in region is preferable.

The ideal candidate has proficiency with the following software: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station V8, Inroads, AutoTurn, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Excel.

Qualified candidates should have the following:

  • 4-5 years of experience in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or FE passage is desirable

SIMCO is looking for motivated individuals for Construction Inspector or Resident Engineer positions.

Work would consist of monitoring, inspecting, measuring, documenting, and facilitating infrastructure construction projects for NYCDDC, NYSDOT, NYCDEP, NYCHA, MTA and other public agencies.

Projects may include: highways, bridges, buildings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. There are immediate openings for individuals experienced in M/E/P inspections, railroad signals, and communications.

The projects are in the NYC metropolitan reigion and previous experience with city, state, and/or regional agencies is highly desirable.

A qualified candidate should have the following:

  • NYS P.E. (for Resident Engineer)
  • NICET Certification, AAS, BS or equivalent
  • U.S. experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A desire to excel and grow with SIMCO in the construction inspection field

SIMCO is seeking individuals at all levels of bridge and rail construction inspection.

Candidates should have previous experience working in the New York metropolitan region in one or more of the following areas:

  • Site/Civil/Utilities

Inspection positions require good communication skills.

Duties will include monitoring, observing, documenting, and facilitating construction activities for conformance with bid documents.

Appropriate NICET certification or ASCE equivalent and experience required for Inspector through Office Engineer positions.

NY P.E. required for Resident Engineer positions.

The candidate must be willing to work night and weekend shifts as the project requires.

SIMCO has an immediate opening for a Chief Construction Inspector – M/E/P for a rail public works project on Staten Island, NY.

The candidate will have a minimum of ten years of “hands-on” construction inspection experience on multi-disciplinary railroad/transit projects. A bachelor's degree in engineering or acceptable equivalent of training and experience is required. P.E. is preferred.

The candidate’s hiring will be subject to interview and approval by the client, a reference and background check (including DHS), and completion of all required employment forms (I-9, W-4, etc.). A driver’s license is required.

SIMCO has an immediate opening for a Resident Engineer for a short-term (approximately 3 months) highway construction project on the New Jersey Turnpike (Meadowlands area). Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  1. New Jersey licensed P.E. with three years of F/T experience as a Resident Engineer for highway and bridge projects
  2. Ten years of experience on heavy highway and bridge construction in New Jersey, four of which as a F/T Resident Engineer
  3. NICET Level IV Construction Inspector with a minimum of three years of F/T experience as a Resident Engineer on heavy highway or bridge projects

THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE COMPLETED AND BE CURRENTLY CERTIFIED FOR THE RUTGERS UNIVERSITY LTAP TRAFFIC CONTROL COORDINATOR COURSE OR AMERICAN TRAFFIC SAFETY SERVICES ASSOCIATION (ATSSA) CERTIFICATION FOR MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC.
